Music Monday - Stereophonics

I am a little nervous to say this, but I actually have over 4,000 songs by this UK rock band, both live and official, waiting patiently to be played in my music collection. This may seem a bit obsessive, but for those of you who have seen them live, or have ever seen my music collection, I think you would understand. Well, maybe a little bit.

So this week I thank the band "Stereophonics", a musical constant for me for over twelve years, and a band that has inspired not only my pace of writing, but the characters within.

Like most bands that have had the huge success they have, it has not come without their share of tragedy and change. But what has been left untouched, no matter the line-up, is the truth that they are one of the best live bands you will have the pleasure of seeing. For a person who has attended more concerts than he would like to admit, that is saying a lot. I have seen this band play in front of thousands of rowdy fans, and all the way down to just a dozen of us stuffed inside of a kitchen. No matter the venue, it is that passion that keeps me coming back.

But that is just one of the many reasons that I had to include them in my playlists for writing my first novel. Their creative lyrics, more stories than song, have helped to create epic anthems for every generation to enjoy. Their passion and their lyrics are equally matched by the ripping lead guitar of Kelly Jones and the backbone base of Richard Jones. With my book now entering it's editing stage, and the band having a new album due in October, I am sure they will keep their rightful place at the top of the list.

Below I have tried to select a few tracks to try and capture their range of lyrical story and also the passion of their live show. After watching below, if you would like to hear more from the band, I would suggest starting with their Best of Album, which can be found here: iTunes - Decade In The Sun.

If you would like to connect with them socially, you can find them on Twitter as well as on Facebook. For more detailed background information on the band, check out the top fansite WordGetsAround.org.

Finally, if you would like another way to connect with the band, why not visit Teenage Cancer Trust. It is a charity dear to the band and one that helps improve the lives of children and teenagers dealing with cancer.
