Music Monday - Turin Brakes

It goes without saying that not all bands are a great companion when doing something creative. There is no textbook answer for the reason why, but some music just seems to interrupt those moments when things just seem to be flowing. However, with Turin Brakes, a band that I have listened to for over ten years, their songs have managed to never fall into that trap.

So with my headphones on, this week my “Music Monday” thanks is given to a band difficult to define but easy to listen to. Go ahead and Google them...you will find them listed anywhere from rock to eclectic to folk. The lack of a singular genre for Turin Brakes is true because depending on the track, Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian are fearless. Their willingness to experiment has lead to a diversity of sound and lyric, which are the main reasons I include them in my playlist while writing. While some of their songs are full of intimate harmony, others are played with such fervor, that to this day I don't regret the import charges I paid for their debut album, 'The Optimist LP', from across the pond all those years ago. :)

Now, have a listen for yourself below to three carefully selected tracks I hope will have you hooked. If you like what you hear below, you can find their music at:       iTunes          Turin Brakes Shop

If you would like to follow the band, check out:
