"Wednesday Phew "[wenz-dey-fyoo]
definition: A moment that brought a sigh of relief, sarcastic or not.
Being a bit of a watch lover I am always looking for something new to add to my collection. Whether that is in a box of Fruit Loops or a lazy search on eBay, I am always stressing as to whether I may have just missed out on something.
Well this week I let out a big sigh of relief, sarcastic or not, as I found one less thing to worry about, my future watches. Well, actually probably watches for my great-great-great grandchildren, but it is one less thing on my to-do list.
My relief is all thanks to Timex who, celebrating 150 years of watchmaking, announced their winners of: THE FUTURE OF TIME: TIMEX 2154
In a competition, along with Core77, Timex challenged designers to come up with what the future of telling time would look like. There were judges from Harvard, MoMA as well as Timex itself that had the task of going through over 600 entries. The winners, now featured on their website, have been given the honor of being "permanently installed" at the Timexpo, i.e. the Timex Museum.
As I went through the thirty winners, runners-up and notables listed, my favorite has to be "The Timex Whisper" which is advertised as: "The timepiece that hides in your ear...It is the link between you and your needs."
Phew! Just when you thought you had to worry about what time it was going to be in the future, Timex went ahead and solved it for us. As always, whether this is worthy of a “Wednesday Phew” moment, sarcastic or not, that is up to you. See you next week!
